Dr. Bones Graduation
June 3rd, 2011 was the culmination of years of hard work for the Bones family. Dr. Bones graduation from orthopaedic residency was an exciting evening!
Our journey up to this point:
4 years of college to receive a pre-med degree
4 years of construction work while actively trying to get into medical school
4 years of medical school - receiving doctorate
1 year preliminary year of general surgery
5 years orthopaedic residency
Next - 1 year of intensive training in hand surgery. And, finally, Dr. Bones can join a practice, start seeing his own patients and start building his own patient base.
Dr. Bones official last day of residency is June 17th, 2011 after which he will attend a 2 week Board Review course followed by the Medical Board Exam (a 7 hour exam) on July 7th, 2011.
On a personal note, I wish I could say that since graduation Dr. Bones is home a bit more. Monday he was on call and got home at 1 am; Wednesday he was on call and got home at midnight...not much has changed!
