Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

From his obituary:

Capt. Newcomb's 28 years of active duty included serving as Navigator of the USS Glacier, AGB-4; lead icebreaker for the 1955-1957 Operation Deep Freeze 1 and 2 expeditions to Antarctica, which were accompanied by polar explorer, Adm. Richard Byrd, film crews from Walt Disney and National geographic, and future start journalist, Bernard Kalb. These expeditions established McMurdo Station as America's first and continuing permanent base for Antarctica operations. As a primary member of the survey party, then Lt. Newcomb was honored by the naming of Newcomb Bay, which is approximately due south of Perth, Australia, on the Budd coast of Antarctica, future site of Australia's Casey Station research facility. Capt. Newcomb also served aboard the USS Kearsarge, CV-33; as commanding officer of the USS Pigeon, AM-374; and as executive officer of the USS Southerland, DDR-743. Newcomb served two combat tours off the coast of Vietnam as commanding officer of the destroyer USS Nicholas, DD-449, and as cruiser-destroyer flotilla operations officer aboard the cruiser USS Chicago, CG-11, earning the Bronze Star with Combat "V." Shore duty included tours as a NROTC instructor at Vanderbilt University and staff positions with CincPacFlt and ComServPac in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He completed his active service with tours in the Washington, C.C., are with assignments on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon and with the Navy inspector general.
