We all loved him and he will be greatly missed be (sic) all the relatives as well as by a large circle of friends.
1927
My Notes:
Someone has written under the photograph: 1927 Meeting of the Association at Lincoln. This is the only information I have about the 1927 Gathering. I recognize the place: Mattanawcook Lake, near Lincoln, Maine. There is similar photo taken at the same place in 1924. The three people sitting on the bench are Peter and Hannah Holmes and Carrie Steeves. On the very left are Mary Holmes standing in front of her seated husband, Walter Holmes. Seated on the right is Ruth Ballantyne. I am not going to assume who the others are. I have placed it in our Facebook group and someone may help me figure out the rest.
The 1928 and last reunion that I am aware of, and the last one noted in the DHFHA, gives a list of individuals. I am going to tell you who they all are. It took me quite a while to figure all of them out.
Mr. and Mrs. William N Holmes of Los Angeles, California. William is the seventh child of Daniel Holmes and Charlotte Hoyt. His wife is Anna Columbia Heath Holmes.
Mrs. Carrie Steeves of Boston, Massachusetts. Carrie is the eighth child of Daniel and Charlotte. Her full maiden name is Caroline Maria Holmes. She is the widow of C. Alfred Steeves.
Harry Holmes, Jacksonville, Florida. He is the son of James and Augusta Holmes, and the grandson of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mrs. Maud Glocksen of Louisville, Kentucky is the daughter of James and Augusta Holmes, and the granddaughter of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mrs. Della Chadwick of China, Maine. Idella is the daughter of James and Augusta Holmes, and the granddaughter of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holmes, Rae, Bertha and Clifton, of Acushnet, Massachusetts. Charles is the son of William and Anna Holmes, and he is married to Elizabeth P. Kimball. Rae and Bertha are their daughters, and Clifton is their son. Charles is the grandson of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mrs. Hannah Holmes of Sangerville, Maine. Hannah is the recent widow of Peter Ketchum Holmes. Peter is the ninth child of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Steeves, Louise, Jerome and Elinor of Lincoln, Maine. Walter is the son of Alfred and Carrie Steeves. He is married to Villa F Warren. Three of their children mentioned are Louise, Jerome and Eleanor. Walter is the grandson of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mr. and Mrs. K. A. Ballantyne and Ruth Ballantyne of Lincoln, Maine. Kingsley A Ballantyne is the son of Robert and Louisa Ballantyne. He is married to Laura Ellen Hall, and Ruth is their daughter. Kingsley is the grandson of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mrs. Kate Ballantyne of Lincoln, Maine. Catherine E Warren, aka Kate, married Daniel Ballantyne. She was widowed in 1924. Daniel is the son of Robert and Louisa Ballantyne, and the grandson of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ballantyne of Lincoln, Maine. Roy is the son of Daniel and Kate Ballantyne. His wife, Ruth Rossnagel, married Roy in July of 1927. Roy is the great-grandson of Daniel and Charlotte.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Holmes, Carleton and Jean Weatherbee of Lincoln, Maine. Walter Holmes is the son of William and Anna Holmes, and he is married to Mary Weatherbee. Carleton is their second son. Jean is Mary's niece, and she and Walter are her guardians and brought her up.
Cony Hyde of Lincoln. Cony is the son of John F Hyde and Olive Carey. Olive died, and John married Jennie Ballantyne, daughter of Daniel and Kate Ballantyne. He is the step-son of Jennie, and step-grandson of Daniel and Kate Ballantyne. Since Jennie does not appear to be there, he probably came with Kate.
