Reunions - 1926

The 1926 meeting of the Association was held August 12th. at the Home of Charles Holmes in Petitcodiac, N. B. Of the original Daniel Holmes children there were present: Charles, Peter and Carrie and some thirty five others. Entertained royally and many of the second generation of Daniel Holmes family met for the first time. Many were interested also in seeing for the first time the old homestead. Also visited the cemetey (sic) where are buried Daniel and Charlotte Holmes as are also Hattie Olivia aged 45 and Bessie aged 24. Margaret and William Snyder are buried in another cemetry (sic) in Petitcodiac.

My notes:

Under the second photograph someone wrote "Daniel Holmes' old homestead Petitcodiac."

Reunion booklet, printed up in 1927.

Charles Holmes lived outside Petitcodiac, in the little community of Hillgrove. It says they visited the cemeteries. Daniel and Charlotte are buried in the Petitcodiac United Baptist Church Cemetery. Bessie is right beside them, and Hattie and Abner are close by. Margaret and William Snider are actually buried in the Hillgrove United Baptist Church Cemetery, as are Charles and Phoebe Holmes. Fenwick Holmes' wife, Maud English Holmes, is buried in the Portage Vale Cemetery.
